Putting the pieces together for a stronger voice!

This spring SDEA members will have an important election of a new SDEA president.  I’m supporting Sandy Arseneault, Custer, for this position because I feel she has the right attitude and skills to lead us in a positive direction.

Sandy has held a variety of leadership positions in the Association – as a member of the SDEA Board of Directors, NEA Women and Minorities Committee, state and local committees and has been a local president.  She understands the needs of a wide variety of members, having been both an educational support professional and certified teacher.

Sandy is a listener, creative thinker and is articulate in expressing her thoughts.  She will work cooperatively with members, school and governmental staff and legislators to further the goals of SDEA.  I hope Sandy can count on you for your support in her campaign.

Marlys Pearson, NEA Board Director for South Dakota

I heartily endorse Sandy Arseneault as the next president for SDEA.  She has a passion for education that is difficult to equal.  Her time and talent in dealing with students makes her a favorite in the Custer School District.  Her other passion is supporting public education and protecting the rights of South Dakota teachers.  She is not only willing but excited to be able to give up precious time with her family to dedicate herself to the position.  The fact that her family supports her whole-heartedly also makes her an ideal choice.  She could not do this job with one hundred percent dedication without that support.  I think Sandy Arseneault will make a great president for SDEA!

Mary Lease, SDEA Board of Directors, SECOR

How excited I am that you have decided to run for the office of SDEA President.  Your enthusiasm and energy will be your greatest assets.  Please accept my endorsement of your candidacy.  We will be fortunate to have your leadership.

Perry Stulken

Sandy is a passionate Association person who has come up through the ranks.  One of her first involvements in the Association was doing interviews for state legislative candidates.  When people said to her, "Make a difference, get involved," she did just that and that involvement has led her to this point of being a candidate for SDEA/NEA President.  Sandy is honest and true to her word.  She is an active listener, inclusive by nature, and a risk taker.  Her service on the SDEA/NEA Board of Directors and on various NEA committees has given her the insight and knowledge to be President of our state education association.  I heartily endorse Sandy Arseneault for SDEA/NEA President and know she will represent each and every member, and the Association, exceptionally well.

Sandy is easily approachable, a good listener who really hears, energetic, enthusiastic, willing to go the distance…literally!, knowledgeable, friendly and yet can be tough if need be.
